Industrial Marketing Organic SEO Basics

When we build websites for our manufacturing clients, we always focus on industrial marketing organic SEO. Search engine optimization (SEO) is complex and can engage other strategies, such as AdWords (paid Google ranking) and Off-Page (tactics to help ranking off your site). Organic SEO is what you do on your website. These tactics include keywords, meta information, and conforming to Google Guidelines. In this blog, I will cover a few of the basic strategies that every website should consider.

Keyword Research and Use

Selecting your keywords or keyword phrases is critical to ranking well and bring quality visitors to your site. Do your research and choose your keywords wisely. Some tips:

  • General keywords are harder to rank than more focused terms. For example, stamping is harder to rank than high volume stamping. When you focus your keywords on what you do, the more qualified the leads to your website.
  • Don’t overdo placing keywords on your pages. This approach is old school and will actually work against you in Google ranking. It is called keyword stuffing and will cause Google to not rank your site well.
  • Use keywords in your blogs. This tactic can help Google spiders recognize what your site is about and offers the educational content Google likes. However, you need to not repeat keywords in the blogs that are already used. While this will take some creativity in content writing, it is a valuable tactic.

Industrial Marketing Organic SEO and Google Guidelines

When it comes to ranking well using Industrial Marketing Organic SEO, Google is god. As I mentioned there are keyword dos and don’ts to follow but Google Guidelines cover page structure and meta content setup. Here are some tips that can help meet those guidelines:

  • First, you can have multiple keywords per page, but Google prefers one primary keyword with synonyms. Having multiple and different keywords per page can confuse search spiders as to which keyword if important on the page and hinder ranking.
  • Google likes content on each page that is relevant to the keyword. Shoot for a minimum of 300 words per page broken up by subhead lines. The keyword and its synonyms should be weaved naturally throughout the text and subheads. Again, don’t overdo it with the keyword placement or you’ll earn Google demerits.
  • The meta (background information, such as title, slug, and description) content needs to contain the primary keyword but has word count restrictions you need to follow. Understanding this part of Industrial Marketing Organic SEO is essential in rank your site.
  • A photo or graphic set as the “featured image” that has the primary keyword connected will help Google ranking.

Finally, Google also looks at the way the page content is written. There are many factors in the readability structure Google prefers, and this is where you might want to engage a professional content writer that has experience in writing websites. I hope these basic tips help with your Industrial Marketing Organic SEO but keep in mind there is a larger world of SEO strategies you might need to engage to rank well.
